Does your child need the required dental exam for the Fall 2021?
Illinois law (Child Health Examination Code, 77 Ill. Adm. Code 665) states all children in kindergarten and the second, sixth and ninth grades of any public, private or parochial school shall have a dental examination. The examination must have taken place within 18 months prior to May 15 of the school year. A licensed dentist must complete the examination, sign and date this Proof of School Dental Examination Form. This important examination will let you know if there are any dental problems that need attention by a dentist. Children need good oral health to speak with confidence, express themselves, be healthy and ready to learn. Poor oral health has been related to lower school performance, poor social relationships, and less success later in life.

Wondering how much toothpaste to put on your child’s toothbrush? We have the answer.
King Dental and the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry agree that you should use fluoridated toothpaste on your child’s toothbrush.
You may wonder how much toothpaste you should use? Here are our recommendations:
Ages 1 – 3 – use toothpaste the size of a grain of rice
Ages 3 – 6 – use toothpaste the size of a pea
We also recommend that you brush your children’s teeth twice a day to help prevent cavities.

Make a little change in your routine and make a big impact on water conservation. As you may know, we celebrated Earth Day this week. At King Dental we encourage you to make a significant effort to conserve clean water.
By turning off the water while we brush our teeth we will use less water. The US Department of Interior reported that we use 1 gallon of water a minute while we brush our teeth. If you brush your teeth for the recommended 2 minute period, you have used 2 gallons of clean water!
We recommend that you use water to wet your toothbrush before you brush and you use water to rinse your mouth and your toothbrush at the end. You could save up to 2 gallons of water. You will save money on your water bill too.
