3 Reasons To Brush Your Tongue

3 Reasons To Brush Your Tongue

Do you brush your tongue every day? The dentists and staff at King Dental recommend that you brush your tongue every day.   Your tongue should be pink in color. If your tongue has a white coating on it, then it is time to go to work!
Brush your tongue with a soft toothbrush and water. Toothpaste is not necessary but some people prefer it. Brushing your tongue will remove the bacteria and small food particles that have collected on the surface of your tongue.
Wondering why you should brush your tongue?
1. Freshen your breath. Bacteria on the tongue can lead to bad breath.
2. Help prevent gum disease. The same bacteria that causes gum disease collects on your tongue. If you brush your teeth every day, floss daily and brush your tongue as well, you will help to fend off gum disease.
3. Helps your food taste better. The bumps on your tongue are your taste buds. If your taste buds are covered by a film of bacteria, you will not be able to taste as much.
If you have any questions, please ask our dentists at King Dental.

Does your child need the required dental exam for the Fall 2021?

Illinois law (Child Health Examination Code, 77 Ill. Adm. Code 665) states all children in kindergarten and the second, sixth and ninth grades of any public, private or parochial school shall have a dental examination. The examination must have taken place within 18 months prior to May 15 of the school year. A licensed dentist must complete the examination, sign and date this Proof of School Dental Examination Form.  This important examination will let you know if there are any dental problems that need attention by a dentist. Children need good oral health to speak with confidence, express themselves, be healthy and ready to learn. Poor oral health has been related to lower school performance, poor social relationships, and less success later in life.

King Dental in Bronzeville can help.   We have new patient specials for kids that include the state-required dental form completed at no additional charge.   Find our coupons here

How To Use Toothpaste On Your Child’s Toothbrush

How To Use Toothpaste On Your Child’s Toothbrush

Wondering how much toothpaste to put on your child’s toothbrush? We have the answer.

King Dental and the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry agree that you should use fluoridated toothpaste on your child’s toothbrush.

You may wonder how much toothpaste you should use? Here are our recommendations:
Ages 1 – 3 – use toothpaste the size of a grain of rice
Ages 3 – 6 – use toothpaste the size of a pea

We also recommend that you brush your children’s teeth twice a day to help prevent cavities.

How to impact the environment while you brush your teeth

How to impact the environment while you brush your teeth

Make a little change in your routine and make a big impact on water conservation. As you may know, we celebrated Earth Day this week. At King Dental we encourage you to make a significant effort to conserve clean water.

By turning off the water while we brush our teeth we will use less water. The US Department of Interior reported that we use 1 gallon of water a minute while we brush our teeth. If you brush your teeth for the recommended 2 minute period, you have used 2 gallons of clean water!

We recommend that you use water to wet your toothbrush before you brush and you use water to rinse your mouth and your toothbrush at the end. You could save up to 2 gallons of water.  You will save money on your water bill too.

Everyone in the family can make a difference! Start today!
